Need Relaxing Spa Resort

My husband and I need a relaxing vacation for a long weekend. We don't have a lot of money, but I want to get a massage and maybe other treatments. We want to lay on the beach and do some other activities if available.

We don't even know which area to visit. Which airport has the cheapest flights from DC? Miami, Orlando, Ft Lauderdale or St. Petersburg. We don't want to do any theme parks or anything like that.

We want something that's
1. on the beach with clean water and great sand.
2. close to restaurants or other things to do.
3. fun things to do at the resort (would like them included in the price or not too expensive).
4. we don't want a party place or all inclusive alcohol.
5. We would like a quiet place so we can sleep, but we want activities during the day.
6. Not too out of the way.
7. Shuttle from airport to hotel/resort and it would be great if we could have a shuttle to go to the nearby places. However, we're willing to rent a car if that's better.

Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Freeport Bahamas is great. A lot less touristy than Nassau. And then you get that blue, blue Caribbean water.

Try Jetblue into Fort Lauderdale from DC. I think they have really good fares.

When you say you "don't have a lot of money," I think we need some help on what sort of budget you have or what you expect to pay per night for a room. If you're really on a tight budget, I think staying at a hotel with a spa will be prohibitive, but you could find a smaller hotel with day spas or hotels with spas nearby.

What sort of activities do you want during the day? Sports? Shopping? Sightseeing?

One of the less expensive options in Fla. for a nice beach and relaxation is Lauderdale-by-the-sea. This might be a good option for you

Btw, there are few if any places in Fl. I know of that would include "fun" things to do that would be included in the price.
