Will leave Minneapolis Oct 1 wandering to Grand Marais to Bemidji, Detroit lakes, and Mille Lac with return to Minneapolis Oct 8. How do think the timing might be for Leaf changing?

You should see some great color on your trip. We have family in N.MN and they have told us the best color will probably be at the end of the month into the first of Oct. this year. It is starting a bit late. ENJOY!!

We are supposed to have the best fall color in years due to our wet spring/summer.

If you have a choice as to the route of your itinerary, I would wait til the last week of September to decide based on the current color reports. If you have to decide now, the state parks along the north shore generally peak a few days later than the parks that are inland due to the moderating temps of Lake Superior.

Thanks, everyone for your help. Although I live in Colorado and enjoy the aspen colors, I love the Midwest color with all the different hardwoods. Cannot wait for next week.
