Need Lodging Help for Wells, Maine...Help!!!

Going to be staying for a few days in Wells, Maine towards the end of August. It will be just two adults, no kids...any suggestions on a nice place to stay would be a great help. Thanks, John

Why Wells? Never liked the place.Everything is on crowded route 1 and you can't really walk to the beach. Try Ogunquit even Old Orchard has rentals on the beach or across the street. For 2 adults Kennebunkport. Anything but Wells.

It's more of a family place.

Elmwood Resort and Garrison Suites are okay, Atlantic Motor Inn is right at the beach.

10 minutes south in York, you have the luxurious Stage Neck Inn and the York Harbor Inn. I Recommend a meal at the York Harbor even if you don't stay there.

Nothing againist Wells.. there is just really no place to walk around in comparison to Oquinquit or the Kennebunkport. In Kennebunkport, there are several nice and reasonable places but, book them soon..
Kingsport, Rhumbline, Inn @ Turbats Creek.. Forget Old Orchard Beach---(cheesy/Honky tonk-ish)

Wells has some great beaches, and some nice places to stay and eat. It doesn't have the quaint downtowns of Ogunquit or Kennebunk, but you can easily get there for a night out. There is a large motel complex right on the ocean in Wells - Lafayette's. There are also some interesting looking inns on the beach access roads off route 1, but I can't remember the names.

If you want to research accommodations in Wells, check the Maine Innkeepers Asociation website at maineinns.com
There are lots of options on this site with links to all properties. good luck.
