We have an RV so we always camp. The Lake Powell Resort does have a lodge right on Lake Powell so if you want location, location, location, then I'd stay there. This was previously called the Wahweap Lodge.

My mileage and directions were for the South Rim. I didn't realize you were going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Mileage wise the N. Rim will be a few less miles but will probably be about the same amount of driving time. The roads to the north rim are more mountainous and if you get stuck behind a RV it could slow you down.

If you have never been to the Grand Canyon I would highly recommend the S. Rim over the N. Rim. If you can't find lodging at or near the N. Rim, then you might want to see if there is any around the S. Rim.

Our plans slightly changed due to a last minute business trip that I had to make.

I just got back from my business trip. we are still visiting Vegas and Grand canyon but not as planned before, but a month later. we are leaving on sep 29 and coming back on 3rd Oct.

Since we have never been to Gc and are travelling with parents, we are re-thinking about visiting bryce and fitting, everything in this trip.

we would love to visit either bryce or Zion along with GC during this LV trip.

Since utahtea mentions that its better to go to South rim if its a first time visit I am thinking it makes sense to go to south rim. we are still unsure weather to visit Zion or Bryce any recommendations?

From what I have read, roads are still open to both North rim, zion and bryce.

Any body have any suggestions about whether to visit Bryce or zion, as i think we will not be able to visit both during 5 days, since we dont want to strain our parents.

Thanks

I am pasting our probable itinerary, let us know if looks ok, or should I make changes. Can you please tell us if we can visit Southrim and Zion according to this itinerary and which routes we need to take to do this.

Most probably we will stick to this itinerary. we will be staying in GC for two nights and one day. one day in the beginning of the trip in vegas and one day at the end of the trip and will visit zion and virgin river gorge if possible on the way back to vegas.
