Need Irish Pub...
I'm looking for an authentic Irish pub in Manhattan--NOT touristy, serves Smithwicks and with live music. Location is last concern, but close to Grand Central is better. Also looking for Irish pub food--nothing fancy or pricey (no $24 lamb chops). Not a college place. I'm taking my uncle who is 65ish, and we have both been to Ireland. He loves Smithwicks. Hard to find in US.
I heard there is a Smithwicks bar in Brooklyn, but it may be closed. Anyone know? All advice will be appreciated.

I think you've got a bit of a tall order. I've just spent quite a bit of time doing some searches and have yet to find a place I can confirm has Smithwick's beer with the ambiance you want, let alone music (and you don't say what kind). Here's a website I found that might be helpful (nyireland.com) Thady Con's looks promising, but I don't know it. 2nd Ave. (and 3rd ave) in the 40s & 50s has quite a few Irish pubs.

Separately, The Kinsale Tavern on the upper eastside appears to have Smithwick's but it doesn't look like it has music---more a neighborhood sports bar.

Kennedy's on west 57th b/w 8th & 9th is a pretty traditional Irish rest/pub. that often has live music (although not nec. Irish). Don't know about Smithwick's. The food is very good.

I love the website below for seeing what's on draft at many NY watering holes.

Gingerman is my fave NYC bar, but won't satisfy your requirement for Irish pub food. St Andrews has some typical pub grub, but not sure they have Smithwicks.
Stay away from Stout...awful.

I read about Stout, the pub. Thanks for the warning. I am looking for Irish music like they play in pubs in Ireland. Thady Con's does look promising. Perhpas we can do without the Smithwicks in exchange for a great over-all experience. Thanks for all the web sites, everyone!

Was just googling to see if there is a pub called The Bank in NYC (I liked the one in San Francisco), and this link popped up...lists TONS of Irish bars in NYC. Several have links to their own websites.
