Need info on Puerto Rico
I will be going to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the first time this week. I would like to know:
1. Whether you recommend renting a car or using public transportation?
2. Places of interest to visit.
3. Ethnic restaurants in San Juan?
Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ajilli Mojilli and Amedeaus are two excellent restaurants in San Juan. Traffic is crazy and I would rather take cabs. I have a friend who took the bus -- if you speak Spanish, public transportation will be easier to negotiate. See the old fort, and spend some time in Old San Juan. Rent a car to visit Ponce -- the drive there is easy once you get out of the city. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island. Too many tourists only go to stay at a big hotel complex with flashy casino. The Puerto Rican Tourism Office publishes a great listing of hotels/paradors around th island -- you can stop by their "lounge" near the baggage pickup area in the airport. It is an oasis of hospitality and information in an absolutely dreadful airport!

I second Ajili Mojili! The whole Condado area (where the restaurant is located) is a lot of fun and there's a lot to do.
Make sure you get to Old San Juan. If you like shopping, cafes, etc., you'll enjoy it. Also, I had an interesting time at Castillo del Morro as well.
Head to El San Juan hotel and go dancing at Babylon.
Have fun.

Another vote for Ajilli Mojilli - try the pumpkin fritters. Also, for a good cheap meal, try the Metropol in Isla Verde - Puerto Rican and Cuban food. The place is always crowded with locals.
I would recommend renting a car if you plan on doing any exploring outside of the San Juan area. In San Juan itself you will be better off using public transport and cabs.
