Churst23, you need to get realistic about your budget. Just because you want to be able to do something doesn't mean you always can.
If you find an insurer who will insure you as a foreigner it is not going to be cheap. Try a couple of thousand dollars for a year. As I wrote, they do exist though so ignore comments referring to normal USA insurance. None are applicable to a foreigner on a speciality policy.
Do not think you can drive without insurance. Do you have travel insurance for this year you are in the USA? If you drive without insurance, your travel insurance will not cover you in the event of an accident. Do no think you will get taken care of without paying big, big bucks.
Contrary to what some seem to think, it is entirely possible to buy a car for $3-4k that will run relatively hassle free for a year. BUT it requires two things. Knowing a good shop who will check it over for you and tell you it has been well maintained and second, FINDING such a vehicle. They are few and far between.
To that you have to add a couple of thousand for driving insurance and you have to decide what you are going to do when you finish as I have already noted. Selling for any real amount of money requires time to do so.
You haven't addressed these issues in you reply, in fact you have ignored them.
You could have picked a vehicle and a price from the link to used cars in your area that I provided you. You could then have looked for a quote to insure such a vehicle using the other link I gave you. THEN you would know if it is anywhere near feasible for you. So have you or haven't you?
Otherwise any other comments are a waste of everyone's time.

INSURANCE and your budget for a car is the most difficult. Had a friend move to the US from Germany for a job, and it took him forever to find an insurance company that would insure him. Even though he had an impeccable driving record in Germany, auto insurance companies don't jump at the chance to insure you. Driving WITHOUT insurance is illegal so that shouldn't factor into your plans.
Do some more homework about insurance and car costs. You may change your mind.
