Need Help for Pretheater restuarants

We have tickets for The Producers April 20 and need suggestions for pretheater restuarants. I also would like suggestions for shopping and wandering about in Greenwich Village.

Thanks!

Judy

Ruby Foo's - go for the dim sum, you can pace yourself and won't be uncomfortable during the show, which is great by the way, saw it last Wed. night!

We loved Sardi's. Blame it on Doris Day, but we really loved the history of the place.

Judy, there are literally hundreds of restaurants in the area. How about telling us what type(s) of food and a price range?

The price range is not a problem. I want something special. Love Italian, Chinese, seafood, French if it's not over the top, and just about anything. Have heard that Firebird is really something, but wonder what a Russian restuarant specializes in. Have already tried without success to get a reservation at Orso. Really game for anything good, interesting, and memorable.

Thanks!

Try Chez Josephine on 42nd Street, just west of 9th Avenue, a few short blocks to the theater. It'll be a great experience. It's owned by two of Josephine Baker's rainbow children. One of them--Jean-Claude--is the charming host who'll add to your enjoyment. Food, service and ambience are all excellent. But, call immediately for reservations--212-594-1925.

Howard: Based on your recommendation of Chez Josephine on this board a few times, by fiance and I had dinner there the other night and it was great! Thanks!

Michelle, glad to hear it. And what did you think of the host, Jean-Claude?

I don't believe Jean-Claude was there that night as we were attended to by a very pleasant young lady.

Everything, Judy! No kidding! For your first course, their soups are always superb....but, then, so is everything else!

Howard...where does Chez Josephine fall, price-wise? Would you know a ballpark figure for Dinner for two, cocktails, no wine/dessert? Thanks!

It'd run around $50-55 a person, including tip, with a drink or two, no wine, no dessert
