17 year olds arent allowed into clubs. You have to be 21 to enter anywhere that serves alcohol. As for jazz concerts, see if Michel Camilo is playing anywhere, or check out Carnegie hall.

While Washington DC has a lot of interesting sites, I think Boston is a much nicer city and has more college campuses than just about anywhere else. Yes it is in New England which is north of NYC and Washington, but it is often no colder than NYC. Boston can handle a major snow storm where as Washington practically shuts down for a few flakes. At that time of year you don't know what the weather will be like but Boston can handle it better.

There are many buses that do the route from NYC to Boston for very cheap prices - try googling Bolt Bus, Mega Bus, etc. There's also a Chinese one whose name I can't remember but it was the first. But the others depart from more central locations.

Boston has a ton of museums and many colleges - besides Harvard and MIT there are BU, Boston College, Northeastern, and about 50 more. While Princeton and Yale have more beautiful campuses, Boston/Cambridge is a much more interesting city,

Pomah, younger than 21 with the accompany of parent is not allowed into clubs even with not drinking alcholic drink, too?.
Aduchamp, pickpocketing and pick-and-run are also big problem for the natives in Istanbul. As I did in all metropolitan cities, I take my personal measures when I am in Istanbul.I hope it was not much.
Thx

No, you can't get into a club if you're under 21. There are a handful of exceptions (that don't allow under-21s to drink alcohol but still to come in), but they are extremely rare, even in NYC.

In every place in America that I can think of, including New York, Boston, and Washington, it is not true that a 17-year-old cannot enter any establishment that serves alcohol.

It's true that people under 21 usually can't enter bars and nightclubs that serve only alcohol. However, if the place also serves food, it is usually considered to be a restaurant, for legal purposes, and your son will legally be able to enter, though not to consume alcohol.

I would expect that most of the of the major jazz venues in New York, the ones that I posted links to above, allow people under 21 to enter. But there may be some exceptions. For example, Blue Note in New York apparently allows 18-year-olds to enter, but not 17-year-olds. The best thing is to check before you buy a ticket.

Anyone under age (under 21) can enter a restaurant that also has a bar and serves alcohol - but they cannot sit at the bar - only in the restaurant. Clubs (music or comedy) have a variety of different rules - and may have different rules at different hours - but you can;t assume that a 17 year old can go anywhere that serves alcohol without checking.
