Fodor's guide for New Mexico is very good.
When I'm planning a trip, I check out guide books from the Seattle Public Library and purchase the one that best suits my needs or I go to the UW bookstore and compare the Fodor's, Frommer, and Lonely Planet guides. I usually go with Fodor's unless I want information about lots of small towns (as in Spain), and then I go for Lonely Planet.
