Need a Unique Beachfront Wedding Spot
I'm looking for some suggestions for a beautiful, secluded beach location for a mid-size wedding (100 people) in the fall. Most guests will be coming from New York, so ideally I'd like to be in Florida, and maybe the Carribbean (but I'm open to other suggestions if they are not too far/inaccessible). I've looked at Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in the FL Keys and it is perfect, but with only 30 bungalows, it is a real stretch for 100 people.
If anyone has any recommendations along those lines, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Are you planning on 100 'guests' as the cost of places like Little Palm may cut down your guest list substantially if you are simply inviting them to dinner.
If you are footing the whole bill, then of course, I could help with the arrangements and childcare during the ceremony!

Thanks. West coast may be a bit too far, and I understand about the weather, but we may have to roll the dice.
We'd be putting up the guests, but substanitally subsidizing the cost. I'm really hoping for some other suggestins though, because Little Palm really is too small to house 100 people.

Litchfield Plantation is a good idea and they have a beach house on Pawleys Island.
Did you check out Sunset Key on Key West? I think there are enough homes on the island. It is quite as expensive as Little Palm but I think they can handle 100 people.
It is now a Westin property.

It might be a hike, but have you checked Aruba? The Renaissance Hotel (part of Marriott - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...rt-and-casino/) has it's own private island for guests of the hotel only (about a 2 minute boat ride from the hotel) and while there, we saw weddings on the beach almost every night. It's very secluded, gorgeous beach and sunsets, very reasonably priced hotel rooms (both suites and regular hotel rooms), and Aruba does not get hit with the hurricanes in the fall like the rest of the Caribbean. The flight from NJ is about 5 hours, so presumably about the same from NYC. There is plenty for your guests to do while in Aruba, too. There are casinos, scuba/snorkeling, rent ATV's, plenty of spas, GREAT restaurants...I highly recommend it! Good luck with the wedding planning!

Not Florida, but Palmetto Bluff outside of Savannah. http://www.palmetto-bluff.com/

A really picturesque, private place for a wedding in Florida is right next store to the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, only 90 miles from Miami airport. It's called The Moorings, (themooringsvillage.com),
a former pineapple plantation with 18 or 20 cottages scattered over beautiful grounds and the best looking beach anywhere in the keys. It faces the gulf. For a sunset-view setting, you could have the wedding on the bay side of the Island, at Pierre's or Morada Bay cafe, which are owned by the Moorings. There is a link on the Moorings website to these restaurants, with photos of weddings. Also see more photos of this resort on Trip Advisor. A good honeymoon spot too!

I know this post is kind of old, but thought I'd throw this in if you are still interested in any advice.
I like that idea of Cheeca Lodge....or the place next door & then YOU could go to Little Palm Island for the honeymoon....I just came back from there yesterday & can't imagine any place lovlier.
Also, how about a spot in the Bahamas? Lots of private little places there.....

I hope to visit the Boat Basin Cottages Nantucket in September. Rates go down a bit on weekends, and substantially mid week. All the restaurants are open.
I would love to hear back about what ai decided. Sounds like a dream wedding. And I love destination weddings.
