Still called the same thing, and still the same deal. National fabric, furniture, and other design lines are still there, all paying high rent as always -- only to a new landlord now. The only ones who would know there is any change are those paying the rent checks to a new name now.

I've lived in Plantation for 25 years. I recently checked all the hotels in the area for my daughter's Dec '07 wedding and chose three that were reasonable and nice: The La Quinta Inn & Swites on Peters Rd btw Pine Island and University Dr. is the best price and relatively new; Staybridge Suites and the AmeriSuites on Pine Island Road in Plantation (they have a small living & kitchen area which would be nice for your husband). The area around Nova is safe and nice. For a special dinner, try the Renaissance Hotel's Bin 595 with chef Adrian (the pistachio- and Gorgonzola-stuffed filet mignon is unbelievable!) located off 595 btw Pine Is and University. They apparently have a great Sunday brunch, but we've never tried it. A good Thai restaurant is Bangkok Cafe, 4801 S.University, Davie...a small not too fancy place with great reasonable food. The best cuban food is on Broward Blvd: Las Vegas, 7015 W. Broward Blvd, Plantation. Very authentic, absolutely delicious food and very reasonable. Hollywood beach is great for a walk in the morning or at night...probably too hot during the day....or breakfast at the Safari Restaurant right on broadwalk (280 N Broadwalk) with a perfect view of the ocean (they make the best omelets I've ever had). Lastly, you and your husband have to have a hoagie from LaSpada's Original Hoagies, 2645 S University Dr (usually take out but you can also eat them there). Lastly, enjoy your time here and please bring at least 30+ sunscreen to wear whenever you or your husband go out during the day!
