I understand the vacation area and where they are. I got that. Sounds like some on here are not kid friendly or just forgot what it was like when they were younger.
I gave up on Ft.Mill for vacation home but not investment yet.

I did not say these areas were not kid friendly. You are confusing. I was saying that I did not think you were kid friendly with some of your comments. I am guessing that either you do not have kids or that they are long gone.

You may need to look at what you say--you did indeed say "not geared to kids"=not kid friendly.
Starrsville has only been trying to figure out what the heck you want. Me too. Really really odd.

At least three times I wondered - but answered in good faith anyway.

Big Al or Bi Gal is determined to twist whatever any of us say.

Big Al or Bi Gal is definitely baiting us now. He/she/it taunted me on his/her other thread. I decided to walk away. Why spend energy helping someone who has other intentions on this board?

New poster. Questionable behaviour. Something is up - and it's not my problem.

At the very least, the OP needs help with spelling, grammar and reading comprehension. I've never said anything anti-kid. In reality, the opposite is true, but that's not the problem here. It took several posts for he/she/it to finally "get it" that Fort Mill is not a vacation destination. Let him/her think I'm don't like kids and to stay away from my neck of the woods. That will help keep my investment property values up. I agree with I2 on this one.

Starrsville is way too sensitive. Did not mean to hurt his or her fragile feelings. I said the one site seemed like it was not kid friendly and Starrsville from his posts, you can tell is not either.
He did not deny that. Most of you on here were a big help. I would like to hear from more younger families if possible-those who will understand.

Not sensitive at all. Please give one example of anything I said that was not kid friendly.

Oh good, GoT. Now it's your turn. I've been told I don't have friends and don't like kids. I think you are going to be "too old" to give good advice on this forum.

Isn't it nice to know these things!

Big Al/ Bi Gal,
I noticed that you could not find an example of my being "anti-kid" on this thread (or the other).

Will you please now stop attacking those you tried to help you. Thank you.

So let me get this straight, the guy wants a vacation home, near the suburbs of a big city, where he can rent out the property (I am assuming to help w/the cost) so his kid can go to sporting events whenever they happen to be visiting the 'vacation' property. Why is the access to sporting events even relevant w/a vacation property ? They should be pretty much mutually exclusive. I mean, how much time is actually going to be spent at the property ? Typically people would be more concerned about the recreational aspects (beach, mountains) if they intend to make it a rental type of vacation home. None of this adds up or makes any sense to me & I feel starrsville (& others) pain. I would be happy to discuss the Lake Lure area if you have any specific questions. Otherwise, I think I would try & be a little more specific (& reasonable) in my requests for input going forward. Yes, I have two small children also if that is in any way relevant. Where do you currently reside in Fla. ? Is the distance drivable ? Have you explored companies that will take care of the property since you will be an absentee owner ? Any idea what those costs may be ?

40 is not old. I believe you were the one who told me not to pick a vacation home because of my kids. Well at this stage of the game this is the reason why we want to get one-So we have a place to go a few times a year where they can hopefully meet some of the same kids each year.
It is more about the kids than us. All I was saying if possible,I would like it to be a good investment also, knowing that we will not keep if forever. Some can not seem to understand that you can have both in the right area. I am trying to narrow down the right area, which I understand that the Fort Mill area is not.

WHAT??

I never said to not to pick a vacation home because of your kids but not to confine yourself with FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS because of your kids.

Your kids aren't always going to be tough to fly with.

Is English not your first langauge?

I am for real and a new poster on here,I just know your type (sensitive know-it alls who like to hear themselves speak.)You are not too bright either,it seems.
Anyway,I did check out the Georgia Mountain area as one suggested on here. If we go to a lake area I think she would like one where you can go on a motorboat. Also would like an area that we could drive to a town for good restaurants.
Starrsville, you can go away now as you promised several times, but I know your ego will get in the way. Bye now.

Please do me, I2 and guy a favor and don't come to our neck of the woods. Stay away from the N GA lakes. One happens to be the most visited Corp of Engineers lake in the country - but we want nice neighbors. The mountain lake website that I posted earlier (I know...I've not been helpful) lists which allow motorboats, water quality, etc.

This is really amusing - watching you find your own mistakes.

Oh, this is a treat to read. Defensive OP lashing out at all the wonderful people here offering sound advice.

First, aren't there sports in Florida?

Second, why Charlotte/Ft. Mill? If you want to be on a lake that's one thing, but a tract home in a surburban development?

If you want to buy a vacation home in Durham (Duke) or Chapel Hill (UNC) in addition to the house, you'll need to make a huge donation to the university for the rights to buy tickets to basketball games. However, Duke football game tickets are super easy to get. The area can handle all viewpoints on religion and politics, but if you do/say something idiotic, people will blast you.

As someone who has vacationed in the Wilmington, NC for almost forty years, I think you would find it a nice town to relocate. I've thought about relocating myself. The only thing I don't particularly like about Wilmington (and I consider myself a southerner) is the ugly sprawl between Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, a situation that southern hyper-individualism tends to permit.
