PLEASE COME VISIT!!! There is an overwhelming correlation between people here who voted against Amendment One and the creative/artistic/tourism-related types who rely on tourism to survive. If nobody comes to visit, the people who are already down because of this are then going to lose their livelihoods, and then things will never, ever change.
That being said, of the 35% of folks who bothered to vote (statewide, resulting in 61% to 39% on the amendment), many of them didn't even understand that they were voting against all types of unions, and many have recanted. And petitions are in the works. Cities like Asheville actually narrowly voted it down!
As you might suspect in any given state, geographical regions are all quite different. Come to Western North Carolina, and Asheville, and you won't be disappointed.
Sincerely,
Greg
