Naples or any suggestions

For a couple,aprox.30 years old, would you suggest Naples for 6 Nights;they want to rest and to have a good time, which will be a nice hotel;and for a family, parents and sons about 20-25 will be a good choice,or what will you suggest close to Miami for the end of July.Thanks.

WE love Naples. It is a beautiful city with neat shops, restaurants and beaches. You can also go to Ft. Myers/Sanibel/Captiva easily from here. We love the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Right on the beach and a great place to relax. Not inexpensive tho. There is an outlet mall down near Marco Island if that interests you. You can also drive over to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale/Boca Raton for the day or a day or two. ENJOY!!

We have spent one week for the past ten years in Naples at a wonderful "mom and pop" motel that is two doors from the Ritz. It is the Vanderbilt Beach Motel (not to be confused with The Vanderbilt which is down the beach). There are several units with different styles of rooms to rent there, all with at least a minimal kitchen area. It has a wonderful beach area, and great resturaunt across the street, The Lighthouse. We can't wait to get there each year.

We travel to Florida from England every year. We have stayed in Naples on a few occassions.
It is a lovely place to visit, well worth going back year after year. However, 6 days may be a bit long . 4 days is plenty, unless you just want to sit back and relax on the beach or by the pool.
Last year we stayed at the Registry Resort which is a superb hotel, very classy but expensive. If you are on a tight budget the Quality Inn Resort is cheaper.
Naples and Miami are totally different, Naples is quiet, classy, peaceful and is a lot smaller. Miami is better for couples without children , the shopping is fabulous but remember stick to the Beach Areas.

Agree with Sharp, 6 days too long for Naples - recommend Fort Myers Beach, which is actually on Estero Island between Naples and Fort Myers. North end of island (Times Square) is full of shops, restaurants and has county park and fishing pier; mid-island to south tip is much quieter. Gorgeous white sand beaches on ocean side wherever you stay. Plenty of hotels/condos available in various price ranges, The Outrigger, The Neptune were clean and nice in the past. Do NOT recommend the Lani Kai. Minutes to Sanibel/Captiva (best shelling at lighthouse and at Blind Pass), eat at The Mucky Duck (take cash, no credit) or Thistle Lodge. Take a tour out to Cabbage Key and have a hamburger at the island lodge where Jimmy Buffet got his inspiration for Cheeseburger in Paradise. Drive up palm tree lined McGregor Blvd. to Ft. Myers and take the tour of Thomas Edison's winter home in Fort Myers. If you like the nature thing, there are gorgeous, deserted beaches south of Fort Myers Beach at Lover's Key, Carl Johnson State Park; tour the Ding Darling Bird Refuge on Sanibel, canoe on the Estero River in Estero or go east of Bonita Springs to the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. For a truly unique attraction, check out the Koreshan Unity in Estero (right off of US41)where a religious sect, led by a group of women, prospered around the turn of the century.
Chamber of Commerce is great for more info and rentals.
