Napa or Yountville?

Is it better to stay in Napa or Yountville for visiting the wineries?
Any good hotel suggestions.

As I recall the two cities are a very short distance from each other. I prefer Yountville because it has more of the winery feel to it.

You are closer to the wineries in Yountville. Yountville is known for its world class restaurants and is an expensive town to stay in. Napa is 9 miles south and because it's larger, has a greater variety of lodging including the chain hotels. It also has a number of fine restaurants and a greater variety of things to do at night besides eating.

Yountville is the nicer of the two towns.

You didn't say how much you wanted to spend.

However, you will not find an inexpensive hotel in most of the Napa Valley.

It's only when you get to Calistoga that they become less expensive.

In Yountville, try the Bistro Jeanty for authentic French food, by an excellent chef/owner.

Like Yountville too. Four Sisters Inns has a great Inn in Yountville called Lavender. We like the converted horse stall rooms for ground level, huge bathroom size and private patio with lounge chairs but Converted Carriage House rooms have a view.

Also stayed at lovely Craftsman style 4 sisters Napa Inn called Blackbird but it is downtown Napa with no view of the wineries: more of a homey Napa Business location.

Maison Fluerrie is msot popular as it is across teh samll road with a full view of a vineyard: you can sit outside or in teh spa and drink your choice of favorite wines and gaze at teh vineyard. At Maison Fluerie do watch room selection as some are very small.
