Napa and Monterrey/Carmel in 3 days/nights?
Hey all, leaving from San Francisco, we'd like to be able to enjoy both the Napa Valley as well as the drive down to Carmel in 3 days and 3 nights. We'd like to do one day of wine tasting, and the other two days of leisurely enjoying the Napa Valley and driving down and enjoying the drive and a few of the must-see's to Carmel. We're a young group of 4. Does this sound reasonable or rushed?

If it were my trip, I'd either spend the 3 days north of SF or south of SF but not try to do both. Depending on the time of year, I'd probably pick south. There's a lot to see/do in the Monterey/Carmel area, and I'd want to drive along the coast from SF to Carmel which isn't the speedy way to go. You can go wine-tasting in Carmel Valley.

I agree w/ Jean. We did both, on seperate trips. They were both wonderful, but are quite far apart. If you go to Napa I recommend Del Dotto winery...it is a cave tour & a bit pricey but worth it.
We spent 5 days in Monterey/Carmel last September & had plenty to do. You could even drive down Highway 1 a bit-it is a beautiful drive! We went all the way to Cambria & stayed in a B&B, but you could just drive part of the way & turn around. Hope you have a great time.

Right now, you can't drive Highway 1 from Carmel to Cambria because it's closed due to collapse of a section of roadway.
