cliffside beach has a pool but it's only open to kids in the morning. I think the summer house on skonsett has a pool too. I don't know which other hotels have pools, b/c harbor house village is no longer. nantucket isn't a book pool place- hotel wise

It isn't a big pool place at all.
McMansions have them, but not most people.
There are indoor pools at the high school for laps and a pool at the Nantucket Inn (not quaint, it is across from the airport terminal, despite its name). Both it and the Summer House in Sconset have pools, and you can get a day pass, but they are not cheap.
Most people go to the beach. North shore beaches (Jetty's, Water Tower, etc) are on the Sound and suitable for children since the waves are small.

There is a beach called "Children's Beach" which I think kids would like, with a playground and summer activities and concerts.

I really like the Whaling Museum. We went to a wedding reception there and it's well designed and informative. The gift shop next door is a nice one if you don't want to spend time at the museum on such a short trip.

I really felt like a local watching a production at the Nantucket Theatre Workshop in town, which is a fun thing to do after dinner. http://www.theatreworkshop.com/history/index.htm
I spent a long weekend in Nantucket a couple of years ago, and I was surprised how familiar the landscape appeared to me, from the settings in children's books and movies. I'm from California and love coastal towns.
Someone told me that Nantucket had a strong presence of women in business and politics because the island commerce was developed by women whose husbands were away or lost at sea.
Nantucket is so beautiful and interesting, with a wonderful culture unto itself.
