an al fresco lunch at Rosa del Trinoro, in Castiglioncello del Trinoro, high on a hill overlooking the Val d'Orcia, in Tuscany, after a rough gravel road drive to this TINY hamlet. Food was so delicious and beautiful that I took photos of the plates as they were served. We were ambivalently engaged in the immediacy of the moment. It was on September 12, 2001. Sadly it lives only in memory as a regular on this site recently wrote that the restaurant is now closed.

La Fonda restaurant, just south of Tijuana (@ halfway to Ensenada). Covered in bougainvilla-fabulous outdoor terrace overlooking the Pacific. Ahhh.....beautiful, peaceful, tranquil, and a great rum collins.

82 Queen in Charleston at night-time with all the twinkling white lights and superb food.

A homemade picnic along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall with all the leaves changing colors. Dry white wine, french bread, good cheeses, apples and cookies!!

My favorite was a private dinner on the beach at the Hyatt Aruba. It was at sunset and we had a table for two with tiki torches around us. It was incredibly romantic!
