Myrtle beach and Charleston in Dec
Just booked airfare to spend Christmas with my mother in law, anyone have ideas as what to do at that time of year. We were there 7 years ago in the summer and I think I remember a lot of things closed after summer. MIL is in a wheel chair so she hardly ever goes out and does not have a lot of ideas, also spending 2 nights in Charleston while we are there any fun Christmas events going on? What will the weather be like?
Thanks for any info.

I'm sure there is plenty to do in Charleston! My favorite restaurant is the Mistral. It's not low-country seafood but it uses very fresh & local fish, etc.
Try http://www.discoversouthcarolina.com/ for more info. You can order brochures and plan your trip. The weather should be in the mid 40's, but I've spent 80 degree Christmases in SC. Have fun!

Thanks for the great website, wasn't sure if I was excited about this trip. but after reading info on that website, we will have a good time. Not meaning spending Christmas with family isn't a good time, but an 11 day trip needed a little more excitement. Have you been to the Xmas show at the Carolina Opry, looks like something MIL would really enjoy. Thanks again for the information.

We went to Myrtle Beach last December and it was very nice. Everything, even our hotel lobby was so beautifully decorated. The weather wasn't bad, cold in the mornings, but "beach pleasant" by the afternoons.
The Alabama Theater is a nice place. They have a live variety show that's very good.
Charleston is wonderful. You can take your mother in law on a boat cruise and/or a mini bus tour of the city.
The bus tours are wonderful and are located in the back of the visitors center.

LVAMY, I don't think you can go wrong with taking her to the Christmas show at Carolina Opry or Alabama Theater or any of them. We are thinking of taking the grandgirls to the Christmas show, Le Grande Cirque, which is at The Palace Theater. I haven't looked at their website in a while, but on certain mornings, all seats are the same price.

LVAMY,
things have changed quite a bit in Myrtle Beach in the last 7 years. Nearly everything that is open in the summer will be open in December.
Here are a link for the Carolina Opry Christmas special:

All of the theaters will probably have some type of Christmas show, so check the Palace Theater website later this Fall, and Alabama Theater, and the local theater in Conway (about 20 minutes west of MB on Hwy 501) has a show:

Charleston is awesome any time of year.
