My trip report
Ist night: 2 moms and 2 daughters arrived at Staythenight B&B in UES. Explored area. Found a pizza place for late dinner, all-night grocery for snacks, and Sarabeth's for take-out dessert.
1st (whole) day: Walked in Central Park early morn..Sex and the City Tour. Walked through Plaza Hotel, Rockefeller Center. Looked in Tiffany's, Trump Tower, shopped at H&M and Sephora. Bad dinner at Tequillville in Times Square.
2nd day: manicures and pedicures at 86th st.nails (only $21.80! and great!). Subway to Brooklyn. Walked the Promenade. Lunch at Amin's on Montaque St..Shopped on Fulton St (I didn't like it, but the girls found some cute things at Conway). Walked back to Manhattan on Brooklyn Bridge; took about 25 minutes with stops for photos. Walked to WTC site. Shopped at Century 21. Cab back to room to change for "Chicago". Late dinner, then cab back to room.
3rd day: Bkfst at Jackson Hole. started snowing and didn't stop for the remainder of trip. Met. Museum; wonderful! Subway to Canal St area (not nice), walked from there to Chinatown, Little Italy (Cannoli!), and Soho. Subway to Times Square. Shopped Saks. Saw 42nd Street, dinner at Ruby Foo's, cab to room.
4th day: Daughter and I walked from room to NBC studios for tour. Watched St.Patrick's parade, shopped H&M (again) . Went to Grand Central Station. Subway to get to Bloomingdale's. Tried to get into Serendipity for dinner, but too crowded. Ate at Patsy's Pizzeria across the street; very good. Cab to room.
Last morning: Walked to Dean and Deluca's for takeout bkfst and goodies to bring home.

Hello blep,
Just out of curiosity, what would you say was the favorite part of your trip? 4 of us women are going to NYC in May and are overwhelmed with things that we want to do in a limited period of time. (5 days)
Thanks for the trip report!

Atilla; The Musicals were both very good.I really enjoyed walking back over the Brooklyn Bridge and just walking all over in general. Eating was fun, too. So many places to choose from; be picky. Unfortunately, we made some poor choices on restaurants. Because of bad weather we didn't take the Staten Island Ferry. I would've liked to have seen more of Central Park.

Ellen; The Sex and the City tour was interesting; mostly women, but some husbands too. The bus was very comfortable and the guide was very good. One stop is at a church, which didn't work out well for a Sunday morning because mass was starting as we were all walking in. When we stopped at the Magnolia Bakery area our guide set out boxes of cupcakes on a park bench. I think the cupcakes had been purchased the day before because the frosting was a bit hard. Not as good as I had anticipated. Fun to see where some scenes were shot and fun trivia.

It wasn't that we weren't warned. Just hunger and tiredness that led to choosing bad restaurants! The only plus I can see to staying in Times Square would be if you were just there to see plays for a couple of days. TS was way too crowded and noisy for me. The Times Square information center is fairly nice though. Lots of brochures, ATM , and bathrooms. Speaking of ATM"s; McDonald's advertises a 99 cent fee, which is lower than most others.

Thanks for sharing your report, sounds like you had a lot of fun and really covered a lot of ground! Don't beat yourself up over a "not so hot" restaurant choice here or there - it happens. When you are tired and hungry and 3 other people are lined up behind you it is hard to find the perfect place at the perfect moment that everyone will think is just wonderful. Since finding this forum I have tried to "collect" restaurants that sound like something we may like. I group them by area and have them with me in my little NYC notebook when we are in the city. Sometimes we can plan ahead for dinner if we know where we will be at the end of the day, and sometimes it is unplanned and I can consult the notes to see what is good in the area.

I enjoyed reading your trip report. Thanks for sharing about how long it took you to walk the Brooklyn Bridge - we plan to do that on our next visit.
Would you choose the Staythe night B&B if you are back in NYC?
Nothing to do with NYC - You metioned on a previous post that you needed to take a two hour cab ride from Grand Fork, ND to get home and I am curious as to what that was all about.

Sandy Brit: I suggested some things that needed attention to the manager of Staythenight. He says they are in the process of renovation, starting with the 1st floor. Overall, the rooms were clean and spacious, location and price great. So, yes I would stay there again.
The cab ride: Due to waiting for deicing in NYC, our plane was late getting to MSP. With only 5 minutes to departure we weren't allowed to board our next flight. They had us fly to Grand Forks and paid for a 2 hr. cab ride to get us home. Long day!
