Lucy, you are going to be a day late and a dollar short if you wait until the 18th to come to the GTG!
And, you must have met the real icee before..I guess we will sit inside! He's quiet and polite..I'm loud and obnoxious. Go figure on that opposites attract thing!

I would guess that Nick's and Matteo's got
mixed up because they both have that dark woodsy "Raos" Italian restaurant look.
Chai's is good, has relatively inexpensive fish, and you sit "half-in, half-out" by taking an inside table right next to the double doors or an outside table next to the doors, all depending on your preference and what is available.
Hau Tree Lanai for view, hands down. Lovely morning breakfast or brunch, great sunsets.
Roy's Hawaii Kai can be noisy, but if you go during an off hour you can get an ocean-view table and relative quiet.
Have you considered any of the Kahala Mandarin Hotel or Halekulani Hotel venues?
Shorebird has an inexpensive breakfast with a view, but getting down to that portion of Waikiki will be interesting.
Massive demolition has already begun.
Moana Surfrider Hotel is another place with a view.
If price is a consideration, you can always go to the Aloha Hot Dog Wagon near the Hawaiian Village lagoon and order a loco moco!

PPC and Melissa...if you went to Chai's on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday which would you choose..for the entertainment?
I don't have to strictly adhere to a strict schedule, but if I missed an "absolute gotta do that" and never made my way back to Oahu then y'all would never forgive yourselves!!!!!!!8-)

If you're talking May 15, 16, or 17, I'd choose Monday or Tuesday. Jerry Santos is an island favorite and Hoku Zuttermeister is just great! The Cazimeros (Tues) are super famous and again, are an island favorite. That's not to say Maunalua is not good, but especially for tourists....when you go home and say you went to see Jerry Santos or the Brothers Caz, there's a better chance your friends may know who you are talking about.

We met the icees yesterday and they are looking forward to meeting you, Budman! We met for dim sum lunch at Hong Kong Harbor View here at Aloha Tower Marketplace and we all had a great time. We even got the icees and lcuy to try chicken feet! (I think that was for a thread on the Europe board.) It was also great to finally see chepar and help her figure out how to pronounce her screen name. And, I think now everyone wants to have a threesome with Kal & Mrs. Kal!
Photos will probably be posted soon. I forgot my camera at home. the winning picture is of iceeu2 with her chicken foot.

Although I missed the Chinatown tour (and I still want to do one, PPC), the lunch was a great sucess. It was fun to meet more fodorites.
The Icees were not not chilly at all, and we found out Chepar did not look a bit like we all expected! The rest of us are all much better looking and smarter than you might think as well.
PakePorkChop and Melissa really knew how to order the Dim sum, and Burta, the Icees, Chepar and I knew how to eat 'em!
I never expected to eat chicken feet, but they were really good! Tasted just like ...chicken?
After lunch, the Icees and I went on a tour of Aloha Tower. Went up to the observation deck on top, and gots lots of local scoops. Our guide even treated us to a magic display on the way down the elevator.
I sometimes forget to recommend Aloha Tower to visitors, but it is a great place...unique shops and restaurants with a real Hawaii focus.
Have fun on Kauai, Fodorites! Wish I had time to join you!
