My impression of the Huelo Point Flower Farm

I had read a rather disturbing review of this property on this website several months back. After starting a new thread, I was again referred to the old posting which had some very disparaging remarks. I'm not going to argue that their experiences were not accurate rather I would like to add that mine were completely different.

The property is drop dead gorgeous!! If you are interested in staying off the beaten path in a very private, beautiful, secluded place, this may be for you. It is located at the very beginning of the 'road to Hana'. They offer four different accomodations and we stayed in the "guest house", a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house. The main bedroom is an upstairs loft that looks out through a wall of glass into the Pacific ocean, 300 feet below. The property sits about 15 feet or so from the edge of this cliff so the views are breathtaking.

There is private hot tub that also sits on the cliff and a pool that is shared by the four private accomodations. There is a also a fully equiped kitchen at your disposal.

I am aware that the current 'caretaker' has been there for just over a year and is different than the person in charge at the time of the negative review. The owners come and go and were not there during our stay but were coming in the day we left Maui.

The only negative during my stay was caused by Mother Nature. The entire island experienced very strong winds one day, especially strong on the North and East sides of the island. The power went out in our area of the island for approximately 32 hours and we were graciously refunded 2 nights of accomodations without even asking.

I was so pleased with our stay there. Paul was an ever gracious host. They have put together a nice book in each of the houses regarding good places to eat, shop etc. There was even a nice page about a very cool trail off the Hana highway that took you through a bamboo forest to a nice waterfall/pool. It was very secluded and not traveled by many.

We dined in Paia and Makawoa the majority of the time which were about 20-30 minutes away. The drive to Lahaina/Kanapali was about 50 minutes.

If you have any questions, they have a website or feel free to email me. I also stopped and toured Pali Uli and could tell you more about that property if interested.

dantheman: I was just looking through posts on Maui and saw that you toured the Pali Uli compound. What did you think? Thanks for the positive remarks about the Huelo Point Flower Farm, it was good to hear that the place is being managed well again. Both Pali Uli and HPFF have lots of appeal to me and would love to hear what you think the differences between the two are. Thanks!
