Maui Prince Hotel Opinions?

We're staying at the Maui Prince for our honeymoon in April and I was just wondering what anyone's opinions on the place were?

I've heard some mixed reviews, but generally good. Any and all information and/or tips are most welcome and greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The hotel and grounds itself IMHO are great. The only thing is that it is located in the south part of the island, where it's quiet. If that's what you're looking for, then I think you should be happy. Otherwise, its location makes it a little longer drive to the other spots on the island.

yeah, that's exactly what we're looking for. i've just read some bad reviews, of the rooms themselves more than any other, and was a bit concerned about that. but it does sound like a lovely, tranquil place.

Know nothing about the hotel, but we love snorkeling from its beach. Actually, you walk to the south end of the beach past the showers and restrooms, cross a headland (which borders a golf course) and enter the water on the other side of the headland. Very nice coral, good fish and very clear if not windy. Very few people use this area and there is a great lava flow that enters the water here which has much marine life.

We spent a week at the maui prince - arrived late and they offered us an upgrade to a suite but it overlooked the golf course rather than the ocean. we took the room - huge with separate living/kitchenette, two bathrooms and bedroom. many of the lower level floors even on the 'ocean front' don't have ocean views because there is a berm of sorts. The grounds are beautiful; lovely little church just a short walk away that we attended on Easter; smallish pool but very nice beach. Brunch was very good as well; attentive staff, etc. I would go back but be aware that it isn't a super lively place and the pool is not a mega production like the kaanapli hotels.

The Prince is one of my favorite hotels on Maui and the other posters have given you solid feedback. I posted a detailed review here last January. In other trips I have stayed at the Marriott and the Kea Lani...the Kea Lani is more luxe, but overall the Prince wins for my money (KL is just too expensive these days!)

The rooms are very nice, but not over the top - everything you need...fridge, coffee maker, great lanai...clean and in working order...the beach is awesome...the pool pales...the service is great and the people friendly...it never feel crowded or teaming with people on cell phones striving to impress...it is about a 5-10 minute drive to the big resorts in Wailea...and so much more peaceful! This is a hidden gem that is well priced and over delivers based on cost.
