Stayed there just before Christmas in 2000, not long after they opened. Had a standard room which was small. Oddly furnished and arranged. Couldn't get into the bed from one side as it butted up to the wall. There was one chair, but you couldn't see the TV if you sat in it. There was no room in the tiny closet as it was filled with an ironing board and iron and was only a little over a foot wide. The bath had practically no counter, so we moved everything out into the window sill of the bedroom, but when you dropped the roman shade, everything was behind it. There was a large painting screwed to the wall -- it was hung upside down. We had a lot of trouble adjusting the heat/air conditioning. Staff was very pleasant and the place was spotlessly clean.

Hi Barbara
I stayed at the Muse between March 14th and March 18th and it was fantastic! The room was large and well appointed and the service attentive and considerate. My wife and I liked it so much we booked to return for four nights in July.
The room bore little resembalance to the description provided by Patrick which would suggest that the size and standard of the rooms varies significantly. However, given the other plus points, particularly the quality of the staff, I would heartily recommend it.

There are so many hotels reports with conflicting info/opinions about the size of the rooms! Patrick is right, of course -- most hotels have rooms of very different sizes.
Thus, it would be very helpful if future hotel commentary included a room number! And if possible the booking source (travel agent, direct call to hotel, online clearinghouse like quikbook, priceline, etc.).
Barbara, don't forget to check Fodors' own hotel ratings -- you'll find Patrick's and others.

Yes, these comments are all very valid ones. I should mention that we chose the Muse when we couldn't get into any other nice hotel in the area for under $500 (yes, including the Marriott Marquis--lowest price $480 plus all the taxes). It was a very busy weekend just before Christmas in 2000 and the city was BUSY! The Muse, being new, offered a special grand opening price of something like $300, so we grabbed at it. No doubt because we got such a good rate there, we also got the smallest room possible. But I'll never get over the big picture permanently mounted to the wall upside down.
