Hi Gretchen

Price has nothing to do with it - I don't want any hassles on vacation and any additional stress. I know myself - I am absolutely lousy with directions and I don't like driving in unfamiliar territory, even that on Long Island, NY, where I live. I know that I could get a car with a GPS system, but I've never used one of those before either and I don't think I want to use one for the first time in a rented car. That whole idea just makes me really nervous and a vacation should be about relaxing.

I can take the Water Taxi to and from Patriot's Point (or a cab, if I have dinner over there). I want to use the Black Cab company once anyway, so I'm going to use it for my day at Ft. Moultrie/Sullivan's Island. I'll do a bus tour for Magnolia Plantation (which, for about $50.00, would be approximately how much I would spend if I drove to Magnolia and bought a ticket for everything).

I'm not resisting the car rental suggestion because it's not a good one - it is. However, renting a car and stressing myself out is just not worth it on vacation. I get enough stress in my real life.

I appreciate all of your suggestions, though. Thank you!

That is fine. Just interesting. Driving on Long Island is a LOT more confusing than Charleston. Done that too.

Thanks for understanding, Gretchen -I really do appreciate your input. If I wasn't such a nervous nellie, I would do it in an instant because everything you say makes sense.

I've made things a bit easier by combining my Patriot's Point day with Ft. Moultrie :

Ft. Moultrie and Poe's in the morning/lunch, then Patriot Point/Boulevard Diner for dinnner.

At least this way, I've saved myself some $$.
