to Correction:
You must not get out very much. Alphabet City and Hell's Kitchen are two of the hottest places to dine/hang out! They are not heavily visited by tourists, which is part of the reason that residents choose to go out there. Nothing wrong with living in these hoods, except maybe a little street noise. Most apartments are in old tenement buildings, so they tend to be relatively inexpensive.

Troy,

Sorry I have been traveling and did not get your eamil.

Where on 129th is the apartment. If it is close to Broadway, I would rethink the move, if it is closer to City College, it would probably be ok.

Eamil me if you still want our landlord's number and I would be happy to give it to you. Our building has just undergone some nice fixups and we are very close to the subway and within a short distance to City College, and there are of course lots of buses as well from downtown.

It depends on where on 129th the apartment might be, to feel safe, and being out late at night is probably not a good idea in that area, since it is Harlem.

I'm at [email protected]

Tweedy, Troy said earlier that the apt. is at 129th and Lenox. Many people have been suggesting he look elsewhere.
Troy, are you still there?

I'm still here. The address is between Lenox and 5th on W. 129th. (Right in the middle of the block.)

If you're not from around there you're going to have a tough time trying to fit in. I grew up on 116th near Pleasant Avenue and almost everyone lives there generation to generation. I'm not saying anything terrible is going to happen to you because it probably won't, but it's never going to feel like home. CUNY gave you bad advice.

Troy, I cannot stress enough... DO NOT take that apartment!! You will be miserable. You have so many other choices! Why would you make that one?

Try the upper upper east side. There are some great apartments around E. 95th and 3nd Ave. Many grad students and young professionals.
