Hi my wife and myself are planning on moving to florida, we live In wisconsin but don't know how florida is i hear a lot of things about its hard to find jobs down there, I have some questions I'm in cnc and my wife is a teacher, how hard is it to find jobs in those fields? How well is the health insurance? What is the best city to live in? Is it hard to find houses in decent neighborhoods that aren't over $300,000? Is it really bad as people say it is

I live in South Florida. I suggest if you are, in fact, thinking of moving here, that you acquaint yourself with the tax system (BTW, I "hear" taxes are "bad" in Wisconsin, is that true?) in Florida, and how that works. Be particularly aware of the property tax rates which affect both sales and rentals and also the rates for property insurance and auto insurance. The weather, particularly windstorms, is something else you should evaluate among other things.

There are job fairs for teachers in Florida. They should already be happening now for next year. Look for one. Fly down there for it.
Since you know little about Florida, go down there every chance you get. See a new area.
Why Florida? What about SC or NC or VA?
You may be limited to going where there is a job.
What about the quality of the schools?

Florida is a big and extremely varied state. You can get almost three times the home for $300,000 in one area of Florida that you can in another -- or even between two areas of the same city. You really need to get to Florida and spend a little time in various areas seeing if you like or don't like different parts of Florida. Even when your goal is great winter weather, be aware that the Panhandle and South Florida are a LOT different in climate -- particularly in the winter.

This. The panhandle feels like Alabama, which is a much different vibe than Dade/Broward/Palm Beach. Central part of the state has its own flavor as well.

Yes, the Panhandle used to be called "the Redneck Riviera". I think it's much more upscale than say 25 years ago, but does that name still stick? I do get what stephensp says about feeling like Alabama. And we used to say to people in Jacksonville "oh, too bad you didn't move to Florida" because it's so far north and the climate is considerable different than South Florida in particular.
