Moving to Durham, NC
OK, maybe not technically travel-related, but....
We're moving to the Triangle area and are looking at houses, esp. in the Durham area since that's where we'll be working. Is anybody familiar with the Stonehill neighborhood (or possibly Stone Hill)? It's off Mineral Springs Rd. Looks like there are some nice houses there in our price range, but not familiar with that side of town. (Know more about the Chapel Hill side of Durham).
We're looking for a newer development, reasonably safe and reasonably peaceful. If anyone knows anything about Stonehill, we'd appreciate it.

YIPE! What a horrible thing to say about my Chapel Hill! As if we didn't have all those horrible, terrible people in Chapel Hill -- just bland, New Age white people. Look again, Harry, you old goat!
Grant, I'm sorry I don't really know the neighborhoods you refer to very well, but I assure you that Durham is diverse AND a lot of people like living there a lot -- which you probably already know. You do have to be careful close in on the east and south sides of downtown, but the further from downtown you get, the less diverse it tends to be, if that's what you want. According to where I THINK Mineral Springs Road is, it's out pretty far and pretty sparsely populated, which should be fine. Why aren't you visiting the area yourself to look around and see who your neighbors would be, how quiet it would be (take note of RDU landing patterns, btw)?
One other common indicator: ask which school district the area is in and then find out how those schools stack up against the others.
