moving to charlotte area...which area?

Hi! I posted a few weeks back that my husband had interviewed for a job in Charlotte and he got the job! We will soon be looking for a house there. The job is in Huntersville and were looking in that town as well as Cornelius. I am getting a little nervous because it seems that a lot of the houses that I like are under contract already. I would like to live less than 10 miles from his work (we live in CT and he has commuted 40 minutes for the last 6 years, he needs a break!) Are the towns I listed above good choices? Any others we should consider? We would like to be @20 minutes from Charlotte and this seems about right for these towns? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

You might want to look at Davidson also. Any of these 3 areas would be good, especially with your husband working in Huntersville. Also, take a look out Hwy. 73 west of Huntersville and Cornelius. This is the area on the south end of Lake Norman. There are a lot of new houses going up that direction.

I'd look where you mentioned and maybe even a bit towards mooresville, although he may be 15-20 min (depending on traffic) away from work. Its a great area and love going to Birkdale as oftern as i can!

You are a bit further from Charlotte than 20 minutes because of the traffic but all those areas are quite good. And the interstate is just about finished with its widening so it should be even better--it couldn't be worse! It is undoubtedly the fastest growing part of NC and very very nice. Don't be concerned about houses being under contract--new listings arriving daily.

Another option is to live in Charlotte and commute out to Huntersville. It's a fairly easy commute since virtually everyone else is headed the other way. Lots of interesting older neighborhoods in Charlotte, although they tend to be more expensive than the suburbs.

Hi, My best friend moved to cornelius, and it is somewhat of a stepford community. The houses on the Lake are grande, the area has a lot of rules so that things stay nice. Traffic off of exit 28 is pretty bad. Lots of delays most of the time. This is a NEW community. I live in New England and most things are old but I hardly saw any old building or shops. If you go a few miles out, It looks like Mayberry RFD. I love Corneilus because It's my chance to see how lifestyles of the rich and famous really work. Charlotte is a good 20-30 minutes away.
