Moving to Charlotte
Hi,
I'm moving to Charlotte from Australia (in August), with my family (4year old son and 2.5 year old daughter).
Was hoping to get some ideas of:
- great things to do with my little ones in Charlotte or great neighbouring places
- best areas to live in Charlotte with a family
- must sees
- best places to meet other kids/families with similar aged kids
- what other areas we should visit while in this part of the States
Thanks so much in advance - any help/tips/advice would be greatly appreciated

Charlotte is very much a "church" city with pre-schools sponsored by various ones and of course, Sunday school and church.
We have truly wonderful neighborhoods of all levels of income.
Where will you be working? You will want to choose where to live partially by that location so your commute won't be too long. Charlotte is "coming along" in public transit but far from there yet. The automobile is the mode.
I would suggest renting for a period of time to acclimate you and your family to the various areas that may be attractive for you to live/buy.
Charlotte is 2 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach so you can have wonderful "away" times. There is a lot to do and see nearby also.
Welcome.

I agree with Gretchen. Rent for a bit until you decide which area you want to settle down in.
Since you have young children, most of the good schools are in the South - Southeast part of town, unless you are considering private school. Charlotte is in a good location because it is just a couple hours to the mountains, and not far from the beach either (4 hours drive). Weather is hot in the summer, and winters are mild.
It all depends on what your interests are. We have a wonderful city that has a lot of art, restaurants, sports and friendly people. If shopping is your thing, look around the SouthPark area.
