quick question: heard a lot of fuss about LIGHT at the bellagio. have you visited this place? if so, any comments?

IMHO (and the opinion of several old-time Bellagio employees) Light has been the downfall of Bellagio. It's attracted a much younger and rougher crowd. While the concept seems nice to have a more grown up club, the reality is that Light attracts 20 somethings and throngs of them who stand around trying to get in on a Saturday Night.

For service and food, I'd put Le Cirque high on the list. But, if by snobbish you mean they make you wear a tie, then it's not the spot.

I would say an outside table overlooking the water show at Picasso in the Bellagio. I don't know how hard it would be to get one of those seats, but it looked very romantic.

RE. Renior: Ask about the "tasting menu". Even better, get it with the wines paired to each course. And yes, those dozens of Renoir paintings inches from your table are not reproductions.

Only Voodoo Lounge comment is don't show up before 10 or 11pm.

I found Voodoo Lounge to be neither sexy nor sleazy, I felt very young in there at 32 and the music was a cheezy cover band, reminded me of the Wedding Singer. The view is great and it's a cool place to stop for a drink but we lasted about a half hour in there and were bored. I might check out Tabu this time around but it's more of a lounge then a club. The Places at the Palms (Ghostbar/Rain) tend to be more R&B but they also attract a bit younger crowd. Depends a lot on your ages...

I'd also recommend Picasso for dinner. They have a tasting menu with wine pairing, I've never been to Renoir, which is consistently rated right there w/ Picasso but I'd pick Picasso for the view.

what about the rotating restaurant at the Stratosphere?

we are Manhattanites in our early 30's, so we are spoiled when it comes to clubs and restaurants. would not last 10 mins. in at a cheezy place(why should anyone?)

I generally agree with the recommendations for Renoir and Picasso, I have 2 more that you really should consider:

1) Charlie Palmer's is a steak restaurant located in the Four Seasons. Very upscale, classy and romantic; plus you really can't beat the quiet serenity and Four Seasons ambiance.

2) Alize. This is a terrific, romantic restaurant located at the top of the Palms. It has floor to ceiling windows so the views are unbeleivable. I think this restaurant often gets overshadowed by the fact that just upstairs is the famous Ghost Bar. I assure you that they are kept separate and apart and the club does not interfere with a great dining experience at Alize.

Prime at the Bellagio is another good restaurant, if you're looking for steak. You can get lakeside seats if you reserve in advance and tip the host/hostess. (This is probably the way to go for Picasso as well...)

We ate at Prime for our 1 year anniversary and it was perfect! The service was pristine and the steak was sublime. No one rushed us, so we sat and watched the water dance for an hour after we were finished.

My sister lives in Manhattan and she really liked Drai's at the Barbary Coast. It's an after hours place that darws a pretty big crowd in a nice looking space.

Prime is a nice place (though I think it's slipped) for steak. I wouldn't classify it as romantic as it tends to be popular with the Bachelor Party crowd. Le Cirque is much more intimate and actually less hectic than the NYC original. (You also won't be shuttled to the McDonald's room if you aren't a regular.)

If you're looking for more of a lounge type environment, Bellagio has two Carmel and the other one not named Carmel (Fontana Bar?). There is also a place in Paris that looked to be a bit more relaxed for drinks. Can't recall the name but seem to think it's something like the Napolean Lounge.

BTW, in Vegas be VERY careful when asking about Sexy Clubs. You may get a little more than you bargained for.

The revolving restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere is absolutely lovely! My husband and I dined there at the conclusion of a wonderful day we spent in Vegas, which also included renewing our wedding vows at Little Chaple of the Bells. I remember the food being very good, the ambiance was romantic and the changing views were breath-taking. We felt very pampered, yet comfortable (not snooty). I'm not familiar with the other restaurants mentioned, however. So I cannot give a comparison other than to say that the view couldn't possibly compare!
