Monterey Jazz Fesival

Hi Everyone,

We are planning a road trip around CA and will be hitting Monterey on the16th Sep 2011 which coincides with the jazz festival. We have had trouble booking a hotel during this time but have hopefully sorted that now.

Is Monterey unusualy busy around this time and will it hinder getting dinner reservations etc and seeing the sights?

Also as be both like jazz is it worth trying to get a ticket for maybe the night time of the 16th or will it just be too busy by the time we turn up?

Thanks for any help and advice you can give.

Jonny (UK)

The jazz festival is in a different location than the main tourist sites in Monterey so you won't have any problems. Although, the main stage show may be sold out, you can buy tickets at the gate for the smaller stage shows.

Hi Jonny,
Monterey will be busy but you shouldn't have a problem getting around town. You might want to look into dinner reservations once you get here just to be safe. If you are interested in attending the Jazz Festival you might want to buy a ticket ahead of time. Tickets for Friday are currently $66. Have a great time!

Dress warmly or in layers if you attend an evening show. It can get downright chilly at night in the outdoor venues.

And you may want to check here for additional information for dining, accommodations and activities. Have a great time at the festival, and I'll second the suggestion about dressing warmly for the evening performances.
