I grew up with parents who listened to musicals. I am probably the only straight guy who knows all the lyrics to the musicals of the late 1950's and early 1960's. I have seen many musicals and I avoid musicals whenever I can. They just makes me laugh. People are talking and then they burst out in song. Can you imagine if that happened at the dinner table or the office?

Leave the kid alone if he doesn't like musicals and take him to a sold drama or comedy.

I used to ask my mom to come mountain bike riding with me when I was a kid. I’d tell her to keep an open mind, it would just take a couple of hours, and then if she didn’t like it she wouldn’t have to come again.

She never did come mountain bike riding.
