Molinini Snorkel Trip

Will be in Maui this Sunday and plan on doing the Trilogy snorkel trip to Molikini and having second thoughts after reading a post that the water wasn't too clear, not lots of fish, and too crowded. Is it worth the $400 it is going to cost our family????

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! Please don't waste your money!! We did that last August and were so disappointed. Firstly there really aren't that many fish. You see way more fish snorkeling out by Black Rock or La Perouse Bay and snorkeling there is FREE. The boats are overcrowded and the equipment is shoddy. They try to sell you EVERYTHING under the sun from stupid videos to t-shirts. My husband and I also did the "snuba" which cost us an extra $50 each. This was a sheer disappointment and HUGE RIPOFFF!

My wife and I did the Molikini snorkel trip last year and enjoyed it very much. The water was very clear and fish were plentiful. I also snorkeled at Black Rock and other areas and found Molikini superior. We used Maui Dive Shop in Kihei and were very happy with its service and equipment. I don't know if its worth $400 to you but we would recommend the experience.

I think it all depends on the conditions. My husband and I went out twice (both times in September) and the conditions were wonderful and the fish plentiful and really amazing. We did the Trilogy once and Capt Mike's (?) which was much cheaper the other time. Both were a good time. The best snorkeling I found on Maui is by the Kapalua Bay Hotel. I think it is a beyond gorgeous setting as well.

I forgot to mention that we were there last march and the whales are all around Maui this time of year. The snorkel trip to Molokini included whale watching and we got to see some whales very close up. It was very exciting. Maybe that will help with your decision.

NO - don't do it.

there are 3x as many tourists as fish - it feels like tourist soup!!!! They will pamper you with the temptation of free breakfast etc. -but it's all low quality rubbish.

Save your money and snorkel off one of the kid-friendly beaches on maui - the snorkel shops all have good maps.

also - the boating companies will also try to rent you wet suits because when you ae already on the boat they announce that the water is very cold out there.
