Moab, Utah to Ouray, CO

We have visited Moab a couple of times, arriving from and leaving toward the north. This time we are considering taking route 191 south to route 46 east through La Sal to Bedrock, CO, continuing on route 50 through Naturita to Placerville, Ridgway and on to Ouray. Should we expect most of the western part of that route to be desert? Are there sufficient gas stations, restaurants along that route? Is the road well traveled or mostly deserted? Are there any caveats about dangers along the way? Are we correct that the route is mostly flat terrain until we get to Ridgway? We will be grateful for all advice.

I am the original poster. I just looked at a map with bigger print and my post should read, "continuing on route 90, through Naturita..." Sorry. I've been unable to find a way to edit after posting!

Just hit the triangle and ask the monitor to remove it.

I have hit the triangle and asked the monitor to remove or change my post, but understand that may take a while. I am hoping that fellow travelers who are familiar with the route I have mentioned will please give much-needed advice? We plan to leave for our trip in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

Hi, been on that road many times. It isn't desert. Has some curvy, climby places, but not really mountain driving. Pretty in a low key way. Dallas Divide west of Ridgeway is beautiful. Good driving with lush meadows on the south side of highway and the gorgeous San Juan Mtns in the background. That is truly Colorado to me.
Google says 139miles from Moab, 2 hrs 45 min. No stations or restaurants, but definitely not deserted. Good rest stop just north of LaSalle Jct. take advantage as none I can think of till Ridgeway.
Not a difficult trip at all.
