Moab to Page to Sedona to LV

Is it realistic to visit Monument Valley on the way to Page and the Grand Canyon on the way to Sedona? If so, any recommendations?

Here is our proposed itinerary: Day 1, Arrive Moab – spend 3 full days in Moab; Day 5 Depart Moab for Page – spend 2 full days in Page; Day 8 Depart for Sedona – 2 full days in Sedona; Day 11- Sedona to Vegas. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks!
Gia

What time of year are you planning this trip?

I would plan on going through Monument Valley and perhaps spending an hour to do the self drive if I could do it and get to Page in daylight. It takes 5 or so hours to do the drive that way (which I would do even if I couldn't stop for the drive through) and some of the roads have open range so not only might you meet deer and elk after dark there might be wandering cattle and/or horses. That makes it better to do when you can see.

That said, I might spend 2 nights in Page but unless you are planning on spending time on the water, you can hit the highlights in a day or a day and a half, so you could do longer in Monument Valley, spend the night in the area (either Gouldings, The View or one of the Motels in Kayenta) then head for Page the next morning.

I most certainly would spend the time to go to Grand Canyon on the way to Sedona. You can turn in on 64 west at Cameron, stop at all the viewpoints, up to the Village area then hike a bit, and go down Bright Angel trail a way to look from below the rim. Then continue on to Sedona.

March is ok temperature wise, but can be windy. Days are lengthening so that is good.

If you are in Page, AZ there are 2 must sees: Horseshoe bend (very short hike, but famous and you must take a picture there!), and Antelope Canyon. We did both the Upper Antelope Canyon and the Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe bend in one day, so beautiful! If you only want to pay for one canyon tour (they are on Navajo lands so you have to pay for a tour), then just do the lower canyon. I would only spend one day in Page unless you are planning water activities in Lake Powell.

Monument Valley is a must see as well if you are in the area. We went there last October, so amazing! A easy 1/2 day trip through the self drive, we did it on the way from Moab to Page.

Moab is awesome! There are many hikes/activities outside the national parks, although you have to spend some time in Arches and Canyonlands. We really enjoyed hiking in Dead Horse Point State Park, not as grand as Canyonlands, but also not as crowded. We also did some hikes off 128 just north of Moab. Beautiful drive through Castle Valley.

Have Fun!

Shave 1/2 day off Page (easy to do) and visit this park.
Takes about 3 hours.
Highly recommended
