Moab to Grand Canyon-- how long?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get to the Grand Canyon from the Moab area? Trying to plan and the map doesn't really give a feel for how long it could take or which rim to head for. We will be in Moab first--seeing Arches and Canyonlands. We're trying to decide whether to go to the Grand Canyon or to head north and go to Snowbird on the way home. We're from Colorado and have about a week, give or take.

While I've been to both I didn't go from one to the other.

According to Mapquest it's 328 miles and 5.5 hours.

It also depends on what time of year you're going... the North Rim is only open mid-May to mid-October. It's 387 miles to the North Rim from Moab, and 321 to Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim, probably 5-1/2 to 6 hours minimum. It's not easy driving to either rim, narrow two-lanes roads, although I couldn't imagine a destination more worth the effort!
