Years ago my friend (MF) recounted this experience:
MF and a friend were on the street in NYC one day, when who should be walking toward them but JFK, Jr.
Much to his surprise, JFK glanced at MF, smiled, and said, "Oh! Hi!" MF was flummoxed but before he could comment his companion said, "You know him?!?"
MF replied, "I know a lot of people," and let it drop.
Some months later MF accompanied his famous-designer-boss to a business lunch at the Carlyle Hotel. As they crossed the lobby, who should be coming toward them but Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She glanced at MF, smiled, and said, "Oh! Hi!" MF was flummoxed again but before he could comment his famous-designer-boss said, "You know her?!?!?"
MF replied, "I know a lot of people," and let it drop.
More months pass. MF was at a big design event and he noticed someone across the room who could have been his twin. The fellow noticed him as well, and they nodded in recognition of their similar looks. MF's twin was the husband of Carloina Herrera, the designer responsible for Caroline Kennedy's wedding dress the year before.
On the other hand, people never think I look like anyone famous, but they constantly think they recognize me from somewhere else--never true.

At a very respectable and lavish wedding at the Four Seasons, I met a young woman who for some reason voluntarily told me that wherever she went in Asia, people (men) always mistook her for some famous Korean porn star. I thought that was an odd bit of info to divulge (even boast) about oneself, esp in the first encounter, and it was even before the booze had started flowing. After that bit of info, I could definitely imagine such a resemblance in her.

My husband used to be frequently mistaken for Martin Sheen. We went to a "veddy" upscale New York restaurant for our anniversary years ago & were ushered in like the "movie stars" they thought we were. When we looked at the menu in this expensive place & ordered the lowest priced item available, our secret was out but we got a big laugh out if afterwards. I later joked about how nice it was to "date" Martin Sheen & my husband said, "No, they thought you were Dolly Parton." Not so funny!

GBelle -- My nickname among a certain group of friends is Wonder Woman becasue I, too, am often told I look like Linda Carter AKA Wonder Woman! In fact I have dressed up as WW twice for Halloween and won the costume contest! Does that mean we look alike?
Though he has never been actually mistaken for MM, everyone tells my husband he looks like Michael McDonald.

Many many years ago when I was visiting in the Netherlands, in a museum I noticed I was being followed by a crowd of school children giggling and pointing, also some adults staring at me. It was the year of the 21st birthday of then-Princess, now Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and huge banners with her photo hung everywhere.
I was about the same age and, although we don't look much alike now, at the time we had the same hairdo, coloring, rabbity front teeth and smile.
Also, people used to think I looked like Vicki Lawrence.

When we were in St Martin and I had all my bug bites, someone asked me if I was a girl from Survivor. I've been told a few times that I resemble Lesley Ann Warren when she was my age. She has very similar eyes to mine. I've also had people say that I look like Sara Gilbert from Roseanne which I don't see at all.

Not quite the same thing, but:
Just before the National Archives in DC closed for renovations a few years back, they had a large photo exhibit of immigrant portraits. One group portrait was blown up to mural size, and my husband and I were stopped dead in our tracks by the looks of a young girl in the portrait: a younger me, pretty exactly. It was uncanny.
But I like the MF story best.

You are all so attractive! While in Japan my host told me that several shop keepers asked if I was a famous visiting artist! I looked like a typical chubby 40 something American female so I am not sure where they were coming from!

GBelle and bamakelly: I've also been linked with Lynda Carter, but only once. The one I used to hear occasionally was that I looked like Lorianne Crook of the "Crook & Chase" shows that used to air on country western TV. I can assure that you I look like neither of these women.
I think my husband looks like Beau Bridges. When Vince Gill has been on TV, some of my relatives will comment how much his personality reminds them of my husband.
I have an acquintance that looks so much like actor Kevin Spacey, it's spooky. I was talking with him one time when someone came up and said, "Has anyone ever told you that you look like Kevin Spacey?" His reply was, "Well, you're the first one today."
