Mirage or Bellagio?

My husband and I are travelling to Vegas for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. We plan to spend 2 nights in Vegas, 1 night at the Grand Canyon and the last 2 nights in Vegas again. We originally planned to stay at the Mirage for 2 nights and the Venetian the second 2 nights, but just found out that Bellagio is charging the same price ($159) as the Mirage. Which would you recommend? Which is in a more convenient location? We've heard that Bellagio is much nicer, but you get better seats for Seigfried and Roy if you're a Mirage guest. How quickly do these seats sell out? We're also planning to see "O" if anyone has any feedback.

I've stayed at both several times....the Bellagio is in another league entirely, so if the price is the same, you shouldn't think twice.
As for shows, the Cirque du Soleil shows "O" and Mystere are much much better than S&F, and as a guest at Bellagio you can reserve good seats for "O" (perhaps Mystere, too...haven't tried)....that's a greater incentive, in my book, than any seating advantage you get for the S&F show.
I'm very biased about these points, but if you search thru the archives you'll find most others who've answered this question before feel similarly...only detractors from Bellagio are those who feel it's too "uppity" for Vegas, etc. Again, if Mirage was half the price, some would argue the choice. If price is =, it's a no brainer.

I agree whole-heartedly with the first poster...that's really all there is to say. Mirage is nice ( I've stayed there many times), but Bellagio is the place, and "O" is the show (or Mystere).
Apparently I felt I had to say it, too.

NO QUESTION - STAY AT THE BELLAGIO!!! It's classy, beautiful and less crowded than the Mirage, though on Memorial Day weekend, Las Vegas will be packed in general. Enjoy - LV is my very favorite place in the whole world! Definitely see "O" - in my opinion, Sigfried and Roy is overrated anyway - no matter where you sit!

Bellagio, no doubt about it! By the way, location is not an issue, they are across the street from one another!

This is a no brainer. Belaggio definitely. The Mirage is nice but the Bellagio is in a league of its own.

The Bellagio and the Mirage are NOT across the street from each other. They are both on the same side of the strip with Caesar's Palace between them.

LVLarry, thanks for the correction about the location of the Mirage. I apparently had a premature "senior moment"

My husband and I just came back from LV.
We had a wonderful time!!! No matter where you stay probably you will too... but we stayed at Treasure Island and you cannot beat the price. And beautiful! And Clean!!!
and more importantly the people working their were very nice. I'm looking to send my parents to LV this year and looked into them staying at Bellagio. I was not at all impressed with the people that worked there though. The building is beautiful to see, but you can go see it without paying the price. Treasure Island was very very nice I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Mirage was nice but I didn't like it as much as Treasure Island ($59 per night)and last week had a special for $49 on line you might want to check into. You may have to go by a certain time though? You really don't spend alot of time in your room. Theere is definately so much to do. Have Fun!
If your seeing "O' get tickets well in advance.

Treasure Island will be overrun with kids on Memorial Day weekend. As I said before, the Bellagio is in a class by itself.

We have never had a problem with the folks working at the Belaggio. They have always been very friendly and helpful. They definitely do not cater to families with kids which suits us just fine.

Hotel rates are very volatile in Las Vegas. The same property can charge $59.00 /nt this week and $159.00 /nt next week. Therefore postings that mention rates are not of any value unless we are talking about the same dates. I would be very surprised if the previous posters's rates for Treasure Island will be the same over the Memorial Day Weekend. Not all of the property's rates move together at all times either. Some will be higher or lower at a given time because of local conventions or events.

I had to write to also defend Bellagio's reputation. I love Vegas--altho I don't gamble or drink, I love the action, the people, the weather, the energy, the fun. We absolutely LOVED the Bellagio. I love the tropical theme of the Mirage, but the Italian theme of the Bellagio was better. The rooms were great, (ask for a view of the fountains) and we ate at 3 of the restaurants on the premises: Jasmine (Asian and extremely romantic and probably the prettiest restaurant I've ever been in), Olives (Boston rest.) great!! and the Cafe Bellagio every morning for breakfast. The service everwhere in the hotel was excellent, and I didn't find it uppity at all. GO Bellagio.

Trust me, Bellagio it is!!! GORGEOUS hotel!!! We were in Vegas October last year... Bellagio is the place. Next time we visit Las Vegas we are staying at Bellagio... Venetian is Beautiful too!!! Defintely go see "O" and if you can see Mystere (at Treasure Island) also... EXCELLENT shows!!! Worth the money!!! I heard Sigfred & Roy isn't all that great.... Bellagio also has a Specatcular water show daily... BEAUTIFUL at night!!! If you can get a room with a view...
Have a Blast!!!
