minor travelling with non-relatives
My daughter -14- is travelling with her best friend and her family for a week vacation-in the US- this summer. Does she need to carry a notarized form with permission to travel by air with a non- relative? does she need some type of permission to receive medical care form? thanks.

And to follow up with Gail's thoughts, do get all of the host family's phone #'s, and their itinerary. And may I suggest you make sure if they are travelling by air you have the airline flight info. And if driving by car I would get the make of the car, the year, and the license plate #.
My daughter took some trips with family of friends..always such a wonderful adventure for kids!!

Definitely do the dated health release form with appropriate information.
If your daughter does not have one, it is a good idea to make an 'emergency card' for her wallet -
simple on an index card with her emergency contacts, phone numbers, etc.
I don't know where they are going, but if the kids will ever be doing something separate from the adults, also make sure she has the name and number of where they are staying with her.
I don't know if she has any allergies or specific medication reactions, etc - if she does, you might want to think about signing up for one of the companies that provides a small tag that either can be downloaded onto a computer or has an 800 number that any hospital can access if she needs care so if the person in charge of her is incapable of providing it for some reason (unlikely, but possible)
You provide these companies with all the necessary info - contacts, health info, etc anything you want - or don't want, and emergency personnel can access it 24 hrs. We have a child with some severe allergic reactions and have used medictag or a similar company - great for the entire family, but usually used more by elderly and for children -
