Minneapolis Hotel recommendations

Into Minneapolis on Amtrak...in mid September.
Main reason for this visit is Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Institute of Art.
Need hotel ideas mainly for safe areas..as am solo this trip. I do not make a habit of being out and about after dark but the Walker has an evening program I plan to attend..
Also wondering if any"historic" hotels in city..? (stayed in Palmer House in Chicago as it was on my bucket list of Historic Hotels.)
Appreciate any help...

I live in Minneapolis so I can't really speak to the hotels, never stay in any of them. The first one I thought of was the Depot but according to the link above, there are several more. The Normandy looks like it's undergoing renovations now so avoid that one.

Downtown is relatively compact so you can walk everywhere. There isn't really a difference in safety between those hotels.

Just to be clear, there is no Amtrak station in Minneapolis. The only Amtrak train station is in downtown St Paul (Union Depot). The light rail (Green Line) is right next to Union Depot and runs to downtown Minneapolis.

Of those I'd pick the W in the Foshay Tower, although it's a retrofit of an old office building. There's a bus to and from the Art Institute, #11, however if a 1-1/2 mile distance is walkable for you then you could walk to either museum. Also the W is just a few blocks from the green line.

Downtown isn't really that compact when you start talking about the 2 art museums which are just past the fringe.

It's a theater town so you could look at rush tickets for Romeo and Juliet https://www.guthrietheater.org/
or lots of smaller theaters.
