Midtown East to Pier 83?

Lexington and E. 50th.

Need to get to Circle Line cruise from Pier 83 on W. 42nd and 12th Ave.

It looks like the E subway line goes west and then either goes uptown or downtown?

And the one heading downtown stops at the Port Authority on W. 42nd and 8th?

So it should only be about 4 blocks walk right?

Yes 4 blocks or so but very LONG blocks in that area. I'd suggest taking the cross town bus at 42nd and 8th (you get a free transfer on your metrocard). The bus stop is right across the stree from the Port Authority in front of the Duane Reed Drug Store.

Have a great time.

Believe the 49th St. crosstown (goes West) will drop you at 12th Avenue. As close to the Hudson River where the Circle Line departs. You'd then walk south 7 short blocks.

On the return, there is a crosstown bus on 50th St. (goes East).

Bus #50 travels west on 49th and east on 50th. The last/first stop on the West Side is on 12th between 43rd/42nd only steps from the Circle Line ticket office and boarding dock.

Bus fare is currently $2.00 (will probably go up to $2.25 in 2008) and must be paid in cash (quarters, the buses do not accept dollar bills) or with a metro card.

You may want to just take a cab.

According to hopstop, a cab would be around $7.50 and take 15 min. The bus or subway options would take around 25-30 minutes and cost $2pp.

Yes I walked 4 very long blocks from 42nd and 8th to 12th. There were bus stops along 42nd but in the 15 minutes or so it took me, I saw none going west.

I was prepared to walk back but a bus did show up and I got on.

Traffic was so bad though that it would have taken about the same time to walk back.

But I was grateful that it showed up.

Just bought a 1-day card.

Scrb, we stayed in the same neighborhood 1 1/2 weeks ago. Hope you try Ess-a-Bagel if you like bagels. The coffee was good also.
