Mid-priced Vegas Hotels
I am in the process of planning my first trip to Las Vegas next month. I will only be staying for three nights and wasn't really planning on using the hotel facilities much. So I thought I would look for something in the mid-priced range ($70-$100). I have found Ballys, Treasure Island, Monte Carlo, NYNY, Luxor and MGM all to be within that price range. Any suggestions on which would be the best choice for a firstimer?

Of that list, my choice would be Bally's. The location is the best of them all, right in the center of the strip.
You may also want to check Harrah's and Flamingo, both of which are also center strip and within the same price range. There's really no big advantage to checking out these other suggestions, except to maybe save a few extra dollars (IF they happen to have a better price than what you're currently looking at).

I would have to agree with the recommendations for Bally's only from the standpoint of location, although I've never stayed there. Mid strip location is ideal, so try Flamingo, Mirage & Ceasars (howeer, at this point, Treasure Island is next to Mirage). Also, as someone indicated, midweek prices will be less than Thursday - Saturday pricing.
FYI, the Tropicana has a good comedy show at the Comedy Spot, check it out if you like that type of entertainment.

I will be staying during the week. I have found the following prices: TI $65, Ballys and MGM $69, Monte Carlo, Luxor and NYNY are $79. The Ballys includes 2 for 1 show tickets and dinner discounts, the rest of the prices are for room only. Any comments?

I would say either Bally's or TI. I just got back from TI last week. I was there Sunday-Friday and loved it. But if you can get 2 for 1 show and meal tickets from Bally's, then go there. TI looks nicer, newer, and the rooms are super clean. It is a little bit past Bally's(perfect location) but its not like its a bad location. I actually prefer TI location because there is a Tram that goes from TI to Mirage, both are easy and quick to get to. And once you get off at Mirage you are practically steps away from Caesars shopping 1 hotel away from Bellagio. any questions, let me know.

I've stayed at both Ballys and the Monte Carlo. Both have great locations, although Ballys is a bit more centrally located (but Monte Carlo has a free tram to Bellagio, which is across the street from Ballys). In my opinion, the Monte Carlo is a bit nicer than Ballys, but the differences between the two are not great, so if you have a better deal from Ballys, take it. And have fun - Vegas is great for 3 nights!

Have stayed at Treasure Island, and just a couple weeks ago, the Luxor. Very much enjoyed the Luxor's properties-separate, nicely decorated check-in area, separate from the casino;pool area is very nice, good reasonable food in the Lux cafe & Mexican grille upstairs, nice rooms, connects to both Mandalay Bay & Excalibur by walkways & trams. Also greatly enjoyed "Blue Man Group" show located there - but get tickets as soon as possible; they sell out fast! Friends stayed at MGM and liked it; although said it was so big it was hard to get around quickly. Treasure Island was okay, but didn't like having to thread thru the casino to get to our rooms. Once you learn where the trams are in each property, by the way, it's easy to get around. One of the bus stops is in front of the MGM also, for your info. Have fun!
