Mid-Manhattan to Giants Stadium

I'm thinking of attending an event at Giants Stadium in New Jersey this summer. If I fly into JFK and stay in mid-Manhattan, how do I get to Giants Stadium and then return back to the hotel? I don't believe it is that far. If I take a cab, approx. much would it be and how would I find one back if I exit the stadium along with 50,000 others? Thanks.

If it's a "major" event, NJ Transit usually runs busses from NYC to the Meadowlands. If not, there are busses that will probably get you "close enough". I know there is a bus that goes from NY Port Authority to the Meadowlands Sheraton, so you could always call that hotel and ask the bus schedule and route number as a back-up. I also know there are busses that stop on "Paterson Plank Rd" in East Rutherford, and this too would be walkable to the stadium/arena. Check out www.njtransit.com

It's not that far (maybe 10 miles) but i'd suspect that a cab would run close to $40 or so, and like you said, getting one on the way home would be difficult (you'd probably need a car service for the return trip, which would cost more).

If i can be of any further help, just post.

Least expensive and fastest way to go is a NJ Transit bus that leaves from the Port Authority located at 42nd St and 8th Ave. Fare is around 3 dollars each way

Thanks for the replies!

bmw732002-----I've got myself in a jam! For the last year, my two sons went with me to concerts I wanted to go to...
Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. However, they always said, "Dad, when Metallica tours, you're going with us!"
Needless to say, they will be at Giants Stadium sometime this summer! Got any good excuses? By the way, Springsteen is also playing in Jersey this summer...
a number of shows at the Continential Arena.

There should be a "special bus" that will drop you at the door and pick you up afterward. When you buy your bus tickets (towards that back of the SOUTH building) make sure you specify you want the special bus. If they mention either bus number 163 or 164 they're giving you bad information -- you'll end up passing the stadium by and having to walk there from a nearby hotel. Not fun, especially since there are no sidewalks.
