I'm a Michigander living in Chicago. We spent a lot of time in the UP as kids. Some of my favorite places in random order:
1. Pictured Rocks - http://www.nps.gov/piro/index.htm
2. Grand Marais - http://www.grandmaraismichigan.com/
3. Porcupine Mountains - http://porcupinemountains.com/
4. Mackinac Island - http://www.mackinacisland.org/
5. Whitefish Point & the shipwreck museum - http://www.shipwreckmuseum.com/whitefishpoint
6. Seney - http://www.fws.gov/refuge/seney/

There are so many small lakes to fish. I remember fishing on Manistique Lake (all three) near Curtis and Newberry. So many fond memories of family vacations & fishing with my dad.
Have an awesome trip!

Sara's list is good.

How much time do you have in the UP? Porcupine Mountains are a long ways from the rest of those locations.
