Miami, Islamorada, Hawks Cay

I have been searching this site for 2 days now, planning a family trip (2 daughters and husband).

We have decided on Miami and will stay at Newport Beach resort, in addition we have relative close by that we plan to visit.

Unsure if we should venture on out of Miami and head to either Islamorada or Hawks Cay? Will we have enough to do in Miami? Not that we are looking for a lot to do, but would like to have options available.

Islamorada looks beautiful and the drive seems reasonable from MIA, we would even consider staying just 1 day in MIA and the rest of our trip in Islamorada or Hawks Cay...Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, we will be traveling in April, are crowds an issue? We are flexible with our dates and of course would prefer a less busy time.

ru, how long are you planning to stay on this trip to Miami? If you only have a couple of days you should stay put.

We are staying 7 nights 8 days.

I wasn't sure if there was enough to do in Miami for 8 days or should we venture out.

I would venture into Islamorada for a day or two. I'm not a big fan of Hawks Cay because I think it is a little isolated and I am biased towards Islamorada.

I love the Pines and Palms, Cheeca Lodge, The Hampton Inn (it is like a resort it's so nice), Casa Morada, and the Moorings.
