I am planning to spend 7 days in Miami and Floriday keys in Feb 2nd week with my 16 month old baby. I can extend if 7 days are not enough.
I am interested in a laid back vacation with nice scenic views.
Can you please suggest:
a) Is feb a pleasant time to be in this region?
b)how many days in miami, any specific islands in florida keys - how many days?
c)Scenic places/drive
d)Sights not to be missed?
e)places to stay?

What are your dates?

The Miami International Boat Show is over President's Week and hotels will be sold out from FLL to Key West.

Along with the massive crowds from President's Week break, over 150,000 attend the boat show and over 21 hotels in Miami are blocked.

That said, what are your dates?

Are they set in stone?

Can you change your dates?

The begining of January would be much more pleasant and less crowds and not as expensive.

As far as hotels, if you can't change your dates, many are already sold out. What is your budget? $200 per night will get you a very moderate hotel room.

I was planning on being there from 14th to 19th to spend the Valentine day and wedding anniversary on 17th. Unfortunately it coincides with the Miami boat show dates in 2007.
Will floriday keys be crowded too? Should I just avoid this destination during this time and find a different destination. Please suggest!

Yes, your dates fall over the boat show and hotels will be sold out all the way down to Key West.

Can you possibly go the begining of January? Rates are still reasonable then.

I just made air reservations(into Miami on Feb 13 and flying out 19th AM) Alaska air milage plan TIX.

and 3 nights(13,14,15) hotel reservation in a 3 -star miami downtown hotel(Holiday Inn).
Tentative Itinerary:
13,14, 15: Miami - Need suggestion on things to do
16 - drive florida keys
16,17 - stay some where in florida keys - Need suggesions.
18 th back in Miami and fly out of miami on 19th early AM.
