Miami & Disneyworld in AUGUST
HELP! We've deceided to take our 5 yr old to disneyworld. We took her to disneyland last year. We wanted to take a real vacation before she starts the world of school. We're flying to ft lauderdale 8/16 & we'll be spending 3 nights in miami (surrounding beaches) 8/16-8/19. Then we'll be driving to orlando and spending 4 nights there, 8/19-8/23. It's nice weather here in Ca & I assumed Fl was the same. I totally forgot to look into weather conditions before I started planning my vacation. I've been looking into the weather now, & I see there are thunderstorms. I'm afraid of a hurricane while we're there. When is hurricane season in Fl??
Please give me some information that will help while my stay there.
p.s. we also have a 4 mo old baby going along.

Thunderstorms in Florida in summer are very common. You may have one almost every afternoon. Then the rain stops and skies clear until the next day. They seldom last very long. Sorry, though, you are right in the middle of hurricane season. But the thing about hurricanes is that you get plenty of warning. Unlike tornadoes, they don't just appear. Weather advisories come out days in advance, so you will have plenty of time to move on if you need to. Just listen to the weather reports at least once a day to get your advance notice. They even tell you when the storm is expected to hit landfall, so you'll know when you have to "get out of Dodge". I'd go, if you can stand the August heat and humidity.

Sorry to be so critical but isn't everyday a "real vacation" for a 5 year old? Guess I don't know why you'd want to take a 5 year old for a Disney vacation 2 years in a row. Plus drag along a 4-month old in August, Florida weather. Surely, you could wait 3 or 4 years when both would be able to appreciate it. In Florida it rains just about everday between 3 and 4, and you can almost set your watch to it.
