Men's attire for Hawaiian restaurants?

Men's attire for Hawaiian restaurants?
Hi,
My fiance and I are leaving for Hawaii in less than 2 weeks, and we are trying to get some of his packing out of the way before the wedding.
We are going to be going to mostly casual restaurants for dinner, but there will be a few nights where we will head out to some of the nicer places for dinner (Nick's on Maui, Sarrento's, Swan Court, etc...).
What is the appropriate attire for men at these restaurants? More specifically, are closed toed shoes required or collared shirts, etc...I will mostly likely wear skirts with sandals, etc...Thanks!

An aloha shirt will suit all of his needs. You may as wll wait until you get here and buy a few for him here, and you can buy yourself a new mu`u mu`u or nice sundress to wear too. DH wears dress shorts and an aloha shirt for everythiing, and always his "good" slippers when we go out. I think the only time he wears actual close toed shoes is when he is biking or hiking. All either of you need really is pair of slippers.

I copied/pasted the following from the website of Nick's Fishmarket, do they enforce the policy? esp. the slacks, covered shoes for gentlemen?
Dress Code
Dress standards request a shirt with a collar, slacks and covered shoes for Gentlemen. Nice casual attire is requested for Ladies. Please, NO BEACHWEAR.

My husband and I just went to Nick's last week at the end of our anniversary trip. Wonderful! My husband wore pants and closed toed sandals and I wore a sundress and sandals, but we did see many people in shorts with regular sandals, but no t-shirts. All were nice polo shirts or collared hawaiian shirts. Sarento's is about the same. Go to Mama's! Was our best romantic dinner we had on the island, and prices were comparable with Nick's. Let places know it is your honeymoon, when making reservations and most will try and give you a wonderful oceanview table. We reserved for Mama's about 3 weeks ahead of time. Have fun!!

Slacks with an aloha shirt or a nice polo type shirt would be perfect for the nicest places, but I would recommend shoes for your fiance.
My husband is as local as they get, but he would never wear slippers to a really nice restaurant for dinner.
